WASHINGTON – US State Department spokesperson Mark Toner has said that F-16 fighter jets are proving to be effective in Pakistan’s war against terrorism.
He further stated that some American lawmakers had expressed ‘reservations’ over the sale of the fighter jets to Pakistan. During a media briefing here, the spokesperson said that Pakistan was facing the threat of terrorism against which it was conducting an operation.
He said that the US was in favour of supporting Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism. He further stated that the US hoped that the military aid would help the country in achieving stability and would secure the region.
In an answer to a question, he stated that some lawmakers had expressed reservations over the sale of the jets to Pakistan. Toner said that Pakistan’s relations with its neighbouring countries in the region fluctuate over time but now the country wanted to solve its problems through dialogue. The US also wants that dialogue should continue, he said.
